Registering as Self-Employed

No need to go all Éponine on us! We'll walk you through registering with HMRC, screen by screen, so you can step into your self-employed career with confidence.

Register Before Your First Job

Ideally, register before you start self-employed work. But don't panic if you've already started — you have until 5th October of the next tax year to register. A tax year runs from 6th April to 5th April the following year.

HMRC Will Be In Touch

Your UTR letter: Arrives by post within about 10 working days. Read it, keep it safe, include it on your invoices (nice touch but not a legal requirement) and use it whenever HMRC asks for it.

All set: Once it's through, you're officially registered for Self Assessment — ready to record your income, claim your expenses, and file your return with zero drama.

Registered? Take A Bow.

Now let SansDrama take the faff out of the rest. Your first tax year on the app is on us — because you've got performances to give.
